Getting Started: Craft, Creativity and Process for the Beginning Writer

Learn what makes dynamic, engaging writing in this interactive survey course that explores fiction, nonfiction, and playwriting in a fun, lively online setting. In a supportive group of peers, we discuss the fundamentals of writing creatively in form, genre, and craft that you then can apply to your own writing.
Whether you write (or want to write) fiction, nonfiction, or for academic or business purposes, this course encourages emerging writers to take risks, grow in voice and style and expand your creativity into new areas.
Whether you’ve never written before but have always wanted to, or you’ve been writing for years and want to push yourself into new directions, this course provides a structure, new insights, and a valuable opportunity to explore your own mind and begin or enhance a portfolio of work.
Each week of the eight-week writing course delivers materials for you to download and keep: a lecture on craft, several different readings, writing exercises, and abundant sharing and conversation. The online classroom is open and active 24/7 making it easy to learn and write any time, from anywhere.
