Ready to begin or re-energize your writing practice?
This ALL NEW self-guided writing course is a 31-day daily infusion of writing energy- delivered to you by email. If you wish you wrote- or wrote more- this comprehensive course will get you writing with a new mindset, specific infrastructure and guidance, and with tips for carving out a lifestyle that supports your writing habit — PLUS, you will emerge with a ton of new material to take in new directions.
In 20 minutes a day, kickstart and establish a writing habit by becoming a writer.
*If you took our FREE course, “Driven to Write: A Field Guide to a Writer’s Creative Mind,” you are now aware of how exciting it is to be a creative person and why you’d naturally be drawn to explore your creativity through writing.
Now’s the time to channel your creative self into a writing practice.
You’re ready to be a writer but not sure where to start?
It’s not easy to begin a new habit out of nowhere. You’re fighting against entropy, which weighs more than the sum of itself. How do you pick up one day and decide you’re going to be a writer? To go from making the decision to implementing it is a great chasm to traverse!
If you’re truly ready to not only write once in a while or wish you could fulfill the stories and books you’ve carried around in your head but to make writing a fundamental part of who you are, then this course is that bridge.
The All New Cultivating Creativity: How to Start and Sustain a Writing Habit in 31 Days takes you through a daily writing practice with lessons, videos, resources, resources, and all the support and guidance you need to to see a whole new confidence, approach, and lifestyle emerge.
And the body of writing you generate in that month? It will become rich early drafts of short stories, a novel, a screenplay, poetry, and more.
Why This Course?
There are many great books on writing, courses at your local school, group functions such as NANOWRIMO (every November), and writers’ conferences and conventions to attend around the globe. All of them are incredible for providing you with a boost of inspiration and suggestions for how to do what you love and in ways that you can adopt for your life.
But I designed this course to get up in your business (in the best way). Because it’s delivered to you by email, every day, it comes into your personal space- so I’m right alongside you as you go through this process.
The hardest thing about starting a writing practice is doing it on your own (a particular job hazard). That’s why I wanted to be with you in as personal a way as possible, but also to deliver the course to you so you could incorporate it into your life as you are able: either pause in your day and spend the 20 minutes the moment the email arrives, save it to do in the quiet of morning, or enjoy it right before bed.
The Course Formerly Known As …
Cultivating Creativity began several years ago in a condensed version and was offered to the One Lit Place community as a way to inspire writers to live creatively and enjoy embarking on a writing practice. The NEW Cultivating Creativity is a redeveloped and redesigned version with an expanded interactive format.
If you cultivated your creativity with that earlier course, you’ll find this new version an exciting next step in your getting down to work and moving into yourself as a writer.
The Perks of Community
You’ll find in our online community a group of writers who all share similar writing goals, whether they’re just starting out or are seasoned pros. It is a relief to be able to engage with familiars like this, people who completely understand what you’re striving for and feeling as you go through this process.
In 31 days, you’ll be writing every day as a matter of course. No more will you think about writing and wish you were doing it. Instead, you’ll simply get to work.
With the course guiding you throughout your journey, you’ll only have to sit back and let your fingers fly.
Every day for 31 days, you will be guided through how to begin your writing habit, ways to establish it, and how to sustain it for the long haul.
Beginning Day 2, you’ll receive a lesson with instructional materials, videos, resources and readings, and writing prompts, and will continue to get new lessons on alternating days (4, 6, 8, and so on). On the alternating days, you’ll receive only a writing prompt, which will give you some breathing space between the lessons to absorb and apply what you’ve learned to your writing.

Why Is Cultivating Your Creativity Valuable?
Taking charge of your life in a way that is enriching and deeply satisfying (plus in a way that will yield so much material that will ultimately become publishable stories, chapters, etc.) is one of the coolest, most exciting ways to live.
When you are finally living the life that gives you so much fulfillment, you will feel the value of this experience in full.
If you take the course, participate in it fully, and find it didn’t work for you, we will refund your enrollment fee.
A key part of the course is the community connection you get with other writers. One Lit Place provides two ways for you to meet up with other writers:
1) In our private group, the One Lit Place Writers’ Conversation Hub, writers from around the world chat, share ideas, and exchange resources. Joining this group ensures you always have support, people to grouse and celebrate with, and beta readers (fellow writers who will read your drafts), which is very handy for when you take all your material you generated during this course and begin to finesse it for publication!
2) Inside our Writers Lounge at One Lit Place is a dedicated secure chat where small groups can request FREE access to private conference rooms. If you and some other writers wish to branch off to create your own private conversation group or workshop, One Lit Place will provide your group a secure place where you can share your work and connect via chat or video at any time.
Enroll today to become the writer you wish to be.
The Instructor- Jenna Kalinsky
I am a writer, editor, writing instructor, and the founder/principal of One Lit Place. I have been a creative and academic writing instructor for nearly 20 years, teaching at Teachers College, NYC, University of Toronto Scarborough, Humber College, Western University, where I redesigned the Continuing Studies Creative Writing program, and privately. I created One Lit Place: a writers’ center so all people who write can receive education, support, and community from anywhere, and on any schedule.
I love writing and also helping other writers see their own work and process through fresh eyes in order to arrive at clarity and purpose. Cultivating Creativity is a collection of ideas I have learned along the way of becoming a writer myself, and assembling it to meet the needs of an emerging writer has been a labor of love. I know how satisfying it is to feel confident in my choice to turn my creativity into a writing practice- and career- and I want the same for you.
How does a “self-guided” class work?
After you sign up for the course, you will receive each lesson by email- sent straight to your inbox- every day for 31 days (plus the introduction and thank you email, which comes out to 33 emails total).
**IMPORTANT: You should receive your Day 1: Welcome email within a few minutes of signing up. If you do not, PLEASE CHECK YOUR JUNK/SPAM/PROMOTIONS FOLDER. If you do find the email there, please add “One Lit Place” to your safe senders list/contacts.**
A self-guided course is designed so you can take it on your schedule and engage with the materials as you see fit- if you liked Day 2 and want to refer back to it, it’s yours to view as much as you like. Something in Day 14 made you go in a new direction with your work and you want to talk about it? Amen to that- that is what we’re here for! Please reach out to talk through any issues that come up and head over to our Writers’ Conversation Hub!
What if the course doesn’t work for me?
This class is an amalgamation of all my years both as a writer and as a writing instructor. It is designed to give you a maximum opportunity to both learn and reflect, all while doing so through writing. The format is such that it is an integrated part of your day- you don’t need to go anywhere or even log into a teaching platform; it arrives to you punctually each day, and as such, meets you where you live.
The chief goal is for you to take the daily lessons and writing prompts and engage with them so day by day you inch toward becoming someone who unthinkingly experiences the world through writing.
If you find, however, after taking the course, that it was not of benefit to you, no problem at all- it comes with a 100% money-back guarantee. Please be in touch, and we’ll refund you in full.
